Spotify update adds artist touring details, new search features and more

Spotify version 0.9.0 dropped today for iOS and includes a number of welcome updates.

In addition to the usual bug fixes and inclusion of additional language support (Japanese, Russian and Indonesian), the app update also introduces upcoming tour details when viewing an artist’s info page.

For example, here’s what Pitbull’s artist page looks like on Spotify.

If you scroll down a little bit, you’ll now see information about upcoming Pitbull performances in your area.

So here we see that Pitbull will be making his way down to Chicago on December 14. Naturally, the “On Tour” section won’t appear when artists aren’t actually touring.

If you tap on the “On Tour” section, you’ll be presented with additional listings for upcoming tour dates along with the ability to purchase tickets via websites like Ticketmaster and StubHub.

The full changelog reads as follows:

What’s New in Version 0.9.0

New: Never miss a gig! Artist views now feature touring details.

New: Spotify now speaks Japanese, Russian and Indonesian.

New: New Search rolling out now. Get ready for instant results, and the ability to search playlists and user profiles.

Fixed: Many bugs conquered.

Fictitious: This app shot the sheriff.
