Steve Jobs Biopic Starring Ashton Kutcher Premiering at Sundance

Ashton Kutcher in jOBSSteve Jobs was a powerful, influential, and often complex individual. Following a best-selling biography detailing intimate moments from his personal life, there are two separate films currently in the works about the former Apple CEO. While fewer details have come to light on the Aaron Sorkin-penned movie, a smaller independent film, titled jOBS, will hit the screen at next year’s Sundance Film Festival.

Sundance organizers announced on Monday (via The Hollywood Reporter) that jOBS, starring Ashton Kutcher, will close the festivities in Park City, Utah next month. The film is one of eighteen in the festival’s noncompetition Premieres program.

Directed by Joshua Michael Stern, the biopic also stars Dermot Mulroney as former Apple investor/CEO Mike Markkula, and Josh Gad as Steve Wozniak. Actress Lesley Ann Warren takes on the role of Clara Jobs.

We first heard about jOBS last April, when the film was apparently still called “Jobs: Get Inspired.” Despite some criticism of Kutcher’s appointment to the leading role, the film is now in post-production and Sundance will be the first place to catch a glimpse.

Meanwhile, some small details were shared by Aaron Sorkin earlier this month, in regards to his own Steve Jobs film. Sorkin’s picture will apparently feature three different thirty-minute scenes, each taking place backstage before Apple media events.

As of this writing, there is no indication as to when the general public (or those of us who can’t make the trek to Utah) can expect to see either film.
