With Father’s Day right around the corner, it is not too soon or too late to start shopping for the big guy. Dads are getting tired of the same old tie and shirt routine. This Father’s Day, why not get him some fun games to keep him busy while you avoid mowing the lawn. We’ve got a list of awesome games we think dad’s everywhere will love.
Battle Supremacy
Tank Battles. Really, there isn’t much more to say about that. Guys love a good tank battle. This game takes the strategy-planning genre and decorates it with authentic looking WWII tanks. Fight enemies in epic campaigns that span across France, Russia, and the Pacific Islands. Upgrade vehicles and advance in ranks to send your brigade deep into the firefight. Play online with friends to beat the enemy with the force of cooperation. Battle Supremacy is available for $4.99.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Depending on how old your dad is, this is a game he may have grown up playing. The GTA series has been hugely popular since it started. However, the San Andres game hit incredible heights with its expansive world, epic storyline, and awesome interactive options. You can grab any car you like, beat down bad guys with your bare fist, and even spend some time in the clubs. This game was recently updated with MFi controller support so dad can play like he did after school on his console. San Andres is available for $6.99.
The Walking Dead: The Game
By now, practically everyone has heard of The Walking Dead. It is a pretty epic story about surviving after the world gets overrun with undead brain eaters. Your dad probably loves the show, and might even be a fan of the comic. If he doesn’t already own the first season, you should get him the entire multipack of episodes 2-5 as an in-app purchase after he downloads the first episode for free. If dad has already finished the first season, the second season picks up right were you left off with all the zombie fun of the first. Again, the best gift you could get him is a season pass, which covers episodes 2-5. Currently, the second season is on episode 3.
Leo’s Fortune
When Leo’s Fortune first hit the App Store, it was an impressive title, to say the least. We finally got to see just how good platform gaming could be on the iPad. Apple even gave it a Design Award at this year’s WWDC. Players follow the adventure of a puffy round character as he searched for gold. Solve puzzles, perform daring feats, and track down every bit of gold along the way. This game is compatible with the MFi controller, which I highly recommend playing it with. It makes the platform game experience even better. Leo’s Fortune is available for $4.99.
Final Fantasy VI
Another blast from the past comes to us from the Final Fantasy series. Again, depending on how old your dad is, this may have been an essential game in his life growing up. Players take on the roll of one of 14 different characters in a steam punk style world. Fight the Gestahlian Empire to save humankind from being enslaved by its evil emperor. This engrossing adventure will put you on the path to battles, quests, and the ultimate fight of good versus evil. If you really want to make dad happy, buy him the entire series. Final Fantasy VI is available for $15.99.
