UberPool lets you split an Uber with a stranger

UberPool is an idea that car service Uber says comes straight from its Uber Garage. In its essence, UberPool is carpooling with Uber, but you share your ride with strangers rather than finding friends to take the trek with you. Doing so will afford you the ability to split fares to take down the cost of your Uber ride further as well as enjoy someone else’s company.

“The idea is simple. With UberPool, you share a ride—and split the cost—with another person who just happens to be requesting a ride along a similar route,” Uber wrote on its blog. “The beauty, though, is that you still get Uber-style on-demand convenience and reliability: just push the button like before and get a car in five minutes.”

The concept isn’t unlike competing services like Side Car and the ability to split the fare between complete strangers is a nice thing to do to keep transportation costs down for commuters.

The service right now is currently in private beta. If you’re interested, be sure to visit the source link below to sign up.
